The purpose of this American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) resource webpage is to
invite you to participate and partner with the San Joaquin Valley Air District, and provide
you with the tools and information necessary to bring projects that benefit air quality into
our region. The goal of this $787 billion stimulus plan is to make supplemental appropriations
for job preservation and creation, infrastructure investment, energy efficiency and science,
assistance to the unemployed, State and local fiscal stabilization, as well as other national
purposes.
A significant portion of funds available under ARRA are in the areas of transportation,
energy, and environment, and provide tremendous potential opportunities to advance projects
that not only address critical infrastructure and other needs, but also help address the
air quality situation in the San Joaquin Valley. As a public health agency aiming to
improve the health and quality of life for San Joaquin Valley residents, the Air District
would like to provide all assistance possible in your efforts to secure available funds
for these projects.
The Air District has been actively involved in helping to coordinate regional efforts
and providing assistance to ensure that the Valley receives its fair share of available
funds. These efforts include working closely with the Partnership for the San Joaquin
Valley in coordinating a regional ARRA plan, providing grant-writing and other ARRA-related
assistance to various interested parties, identifying and partnering with various organizations
interested in working jointly on projects with the Air District, and preparing competitive
grant applications to bring and make funds available locally for projects that provide
air quality benefits.
Assistance is Available
Several funding deadlines are already fast-approaching, and new funding opportunities are opening rapidly. The Air District is here to help you in any way possible, and there are several ways that we may be able to assist you in taking advantage of these funds:
- Partnering with the Air District to apply for competitive grants
Air District is currently looking to develop partnerships and prepare grant applications for the grant application opportunities listed below. Please contact the Air District through any of the below methods to discuss any potential project ideas that you may have.
- Providing grant-writing, technical, and other assistance for all air quality-beneficial project submittals
This assistance may be in the form of technical support in evaluating the air quality benefits of potential projects, providing air quality-related background information, identifying potential joint projects, and other direct grant-writing assistance.
