Environmental Justice Strategy
The District Governing Board adopted the Environmental Justice Strategy on Aug. 16, 2007 and amended on Feb. 18, 2010. This comprehensive policy serves as a roadmap which will guide the District in integrating Environmental Justice principles and augmenting the steps already taken by the District in reaching out to the community. The amended policy is available in
English and
Spanish. On Feb. 18, 2010, the District Governing Board adopted the Environmental Justice Advisory Group Bylaws.
As part of this strategy, the District is seeking candidates to fill open positions for the Kern, Kings and Madera County At-large seats and one ethnic, small-business owner on the 13-member Environmental Justice Advisory Group (EJAG).
Interested individuals must submit an EJAG application. The EJAG will work to collaboratively educate the public and community stakeholders about current District activities and air quality in general, and will review overarching District programs and strategies to provide feedback.
For additional information on the policy, please contact Maricela Velasquez at (559) 230-5849.
Environmental Justice Advisory Group
EJAG Information
The Valley Air District holds regular meetings of the Environmental Justice Advisory Group (EJAG). These meetings are an opportunity for community leaders or interested individuals to learn about upcoming District rules, programs and issues coming before the District's Governing Board. These meetings are to encourage grass roots participation in District activities and outreach, and to ensure that all of the populations of the Valley are enfranchised in all aspects of the District’s mission.
The EJAG consists of 13 members. All members must be residents of the San Joaquin Valley. Eight of these members are at-large county representatives. Two are ethnic, small-business owners. Three of these members are CAC members, one representing each of the three CAC interest groups. Members of the EJAG are deemed volunteers and are not entitled to any compensation from the District.
EJAG meetings are held at the Central Region Office, VTC Room, 1990 E. Gettysburg Ave., Fresno. To encourage public participation, the EJAG meetings are held via the District’s video teleconferencing system and can be attended in the Central Region Office (Fresno), the Northern Region Office (4800 Enterprise Way, Modesto), or the Southern Region Office (34946 Flyover Court, Bakersfield).
All correspondence and telephone calls for the EJAG should be directed to the District’s Clerk to the Boards, at 1990 E. Gettysburg Avenue, Fresno, CA 93726, (559) 230-6000 or web-boardmail@valleyair.org

Facility Criteria and Toxic Emissions Inventory Data
ARB compiles emission inventory data from the individual air pollution
control districts and air quality management districts. These data are available
for individual facilities at
http://www.arb.ca.gov/app/emsinv/facinfo/facinfo.php.
This search page permits access to both criteria and toxic emissions data.
(Criteria pollutants include particulate matter, sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide,
oxides of nitrogen, volatile organic compounds, and lead.)
Toxic emissions data are available for those facilities that are subject to AB 2588.
