Dangerous and Costly!

The costs of unplanned fires are staggering as they burn out of control, destroying homes, communities and businesses, forests, rangelands, and croplands.

What happens when fires burn out of control?

Unplanned Wildland Fires:

  • Add to serious erosion and floods-washing soil and ash pollutants into streams, lakes and reservoirs
  • Destroy wildlife and fish and their vital habitats
  • Damage and destroy valuable tree harvest areas

Under the unusual climate conditions we are in now, wildfires burn hotter than ever, with great intensity and immense damage to life, property and natural resources.
