Oil pipeline

Oil provides only about 2% of the electricity in the U.S. Even though it burns cleaner than coal, oil still emits large quantities of CO2, SO2, and NOx per unit of energy produced. A lot of the U.S. oil that is easiest to extract is already gone. Due to our large consumption, we must import oil from other countries, which has many risks, and/or rely on new technologies to extract it here. Again, it is not a renewable resource and puts us at risk as we breathe the pollution it creates.
