2015 Ozone Season Graphic

Despite triple-digit temperatures during the summer, and stagnant wind flow and high pressure challenges during both the summer and winter, Valley air quality has shown tremendous improvement in both ozone and particulate matter compared to past years, and has set new records for a number of metrics across a monitoring period of over 35 years. These improvements would not be possible without the success of the District’s control strategy through its various attainment planning efforts, its robust incentive programs, and the commitment from Valley stakeholders doing their part to reduce emissions as much as possible.

“Thanks to the vigilance and cooperation of residents and businesses throughout the Valley, we had a great year with regard to keeping ozone and PM 2.5 levels down,” said Seyed Sadredin, the District’s air pollution control officer and executive director.
